Not Broken
For the person who has tried everything and is still not well …this post is for you
this is the place. If you have found your way to this post, I imagine it is because you have been on a road for a while.
You have tried things. Many things. The diets, the supplements, the appointments, the referrals, the protocols from the internet and the advice from the well-meaning people in your life who watched you struggle and wanted to help. You have done the work. You have invested the time and the money and the hope.
And you are still not well.
I want to say something to you before anything else. Before the clinical explanation and the practical suggestions and the science that I genuinely believe can help.
You are not broken. And you are not out of options.
What you may be, is unlayered. And that is a very different thing.
Why trying everything doesn't always work
The most common reason people try everything and remain unwell is not that they have not found the right treatment. It is that they have been treating the surface of something that lives much deeper.
Most chronic health challenges are layered. There is a symptom layer — the one that shows up on tests, gets diagnosed, and gets treated. Below that is a physiological layer — the actual mechanisms creating those symptoms: the hormonal imbalances, the gut dysfunction, the adrenal dysregulation, the immune activation. Below that is often a nutritional layer — the specific deficiencies that are preventing the body from doing what it needs to do. And below that, in many cases, is an energetic or constitutional layer — the inherited patterns, the nervous system calibration, the miasmatic picture that no supplement or diet change alone can reach.
Most approaches address one or two of these layers. That is why they help some people and not others. That is why you may have found something that worked for six months and then stopped working. That is why the protocol that transformed your friend's health did nothing for yours.
Your layers are specific to you. Finding them requires someone willing to look carefully at the whole picture — not just the most recent diagnosis.
What "I've tried everything" usually means in practice
When patients tell me they have tried everything, what they usually mean is:
They have tried pharmaceutical management of individual symptoms
They have tried dietary changes, often several different ones
They have tried popular supplements, often based on what worked for someone else
They have tried one or two complementary approaches, often briefly
They have followed the hottest topics on Instagram with no avail
They tried the popular Youtube video advice
YOUR BODY IS YOURS.
It’s COMPLETELY UNIQUE
MARVELOUS
WONDERIOUS
AMAZING
YOURS
And no one is created like you are
No one has your exact body.
What they have almost never tried is a genuinely comprehensive, individualised, whole-system approach that starts from scratch and builds a complete picture of every layer that is contributing to how they feel.
This is not a criticism of what they have tried. It is simply an observation that the healthcare system is not designed to do what is actually needed for complex, chronic, multi-layered illness. The appointments are too short, the tools are too narrow, and the philosophy stops at the symptom.
The patterns I see most often
After twenty years in clinical practice, working with patients who have often been everywhere else first, I have noticed consistent patterns in what is missed:
The gut is almost always involved. Not always as the primary issue, but almost always as a significant contributor. Poor nutrient absorption means that even excellent dietary choices and supplements do not deliver what the body needs. Dysbiosis creates systemic inflammation that drives or worsens almost every chronic health condition. Intestinal permeability allows things into the bloodstream that should not be there, triggering immune responses that manifest as everything from skin conditions to mood disorders to joint pain.
The adrenal and thyroid picture is almost always incomplete. Standard testing misses the subclinical patterns that have profound effects on energy, mood, weight, sleep, and hormonal balance. A thyroid that is technically "within range" but not truly optimal is still affecting every cell in the body. An adrenal system that has been running in chronic low-level activation for years cannot simply be supplemented back to health — the whole nervous system needs support.
The inherited and constitutional layer is almost never addressed. This is the one I find most consistently missing, and the one that makes the most difference when finally reached. The patterns that run in families — the anxious baseline, the immune reactivity, the hormonal tendencies, the chronic conditions that keep showing up generation after generation — do not resolve with dietary change or even excellent supplementation alone. They need to be met at the level where they actually live: the constitutional, energetic, miasmatic layer that homeopathy is specifically designed to address.
The emotional and nervous system dimension is consistently undervalued. Not because it is not acknowledged, but because it is treated as separate from the physical. The research is unambiguous: chronic stress, unresolved trauma, and nervous system dysregulation have direct, measurable effects on immune function, hormonal regulation, gut health, and inflammatory tone. You cannot supplement your way past a nervous system that does not feel safe.
Why some things help and some don't
Chronic illness is almost always layered. Most approaches address one or two layers — which is why they help some people and not others. Here is the complete picture most protocols never reach.
The four layers of chronic illness
-
01
The symptom layer
What shows up on tests, gets diagnosed, and gets treated. The most visible layer — and the only one most approaches address.
-
02
The physiological layer
The actual mechanisms creating the symptoms: gut dysfunction, adrenal dysregulation, hormonal imbalance, immune activation, thyroid patterns.
-
03
The nutritional layer
The specific deficiencies preventing the body from doing what it needs to do — absorption, enzyme function, cellular repair, hormonal production.
-
04
The constitutional layer
The inherited patterns, nervous system calibration, mental & emotional layers, and miasmatic picture that no supplement or diet change alone can reach. The layer homeopathy is specifically designed for.
"Most people who tell me they have tried everything have never had someone look at all four layers at once. When you address all of them simultaneously — supporting each while the others heal — the body can finally do what it has been trying to do all along."
What to Add About Minerals
A note about measuring your minerals
This deserves its own moment because it is one of the most important things I can tell you.
If a practitioner has tested your mineral levels through standard blood work and told you everything looks fine, that result may be accurate… but it is almost certainly incomplete.
Minerals are tissue-bound. They live in your cells, your hair, and your bones. They do not float freely in your blood. Your body regulates blood mineral levels with extraordinary precision, maintaining them within a very narrow range regardless of what is happening in your tissues, because if blood mineral levels dropped significantly, the consequences would be immediately life-threatening.
What this means in practice is that blood mineral testing is the last place a deficiency shows up. By the time your blood levels are low, your tissues have often been depleted for months or years. You can be significantly magnesium deficient, zinc depleted, or carrying a heavy metal burden, and your standard blood panel will look completely unremarkable.
The two tests that actually show what is happening at the tissue level are:
HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) — a non-invasive test using a small hair sample that gives a 3-month picture of mineral status, heavy metal burden, and the mineral ratios that reveal adrenal function, thyroid patterns, and metabolic rate. Available to patients anywhere, including online.
Oligoscan — a non-invasive spectrophotometric analysis done in clinic that measures mineral and heavy metal levels in the tissue of the hand in real time. Available in-person at Melody's clinic.
Both tests give a picture that standard blood work simply cannot. And in patients who have been told their labs look normal while feeling profoundly unwell, they consistently reveal exactly what has been missed.
If you are curious about either test, you can book directly through the links below.
What changes when you look at all of it
I want to tell you something that I have watched happen again and again in my practice.
People come in after years of trying. They are tired of trying. They have spent money they did not have on things that helped a little or not at all. They are not exactly hopeful. But they are here.
And then we do the whole picture. The comprehensive intake, the bioenergetic assessment, the constitutional homeopathic evaluation, the nutritional and functional analysis. And gradually — not overnight, but gradually, in layers — things begin to shift.
Not because I have a magic answer. But because when you address all the layers at once, supporting each one while the others heal, the body can finally do what it has been trying to do all along.
The body always wants to heal. It is not withholding wellness from you. It is working with what it has been given. When you give it more — more precisely, more individually, more completely — it responds.
Where to start if you are not sure
If you are not ready to book a full consultation but you want to begin somewhere, here is what I suggest:
Start with the foundations. Magnesium — most people with chronic health challenges are deficient, and it underlies hundreds of biochemical processes. Trace minerals — zinc, selenium, iodine, and the others that enzyme function, thyroid health, and immune regulation depend on. Gut support — not a harsh cleanse, but gentle, consistent daily fiber from diverse whole plant foods, and fermented foods where tolerated.
Protect your sleep with intention. Prioritise morning light. Reduce the things that keep the nervous system in activation — not perfectly, just intentionally.
And when you are ready, come and talk to me. Tell me everything you have tried. Tell me what helped and what did not and why you think that is. Bring the full story. That is exactly what I am here for.
You are not broken. You are not out of options. You are simply not yet done.
