Woman wishing to have a baby Natural Fertility at Superlative Health

What holistic medicine sees that standard fertility testing often misses

If you are reading this, there is a good chance you have been on this road for a while.

Maybe you have been trying for months and nothing is happening. Maybe you have done all the tests and been told everything looks "normal," which is somehow both reassuring and infuriating at the same time. Maybe you have had a loss, and your body now feels like a place you are no longer sure you can trust. Maybe you are just starting out and you want to give yourself the best possible foundation before you begin.

Wherever you are on this journey, I want you to know something first: you are not broken. And your body is not failing you.

Your body is doing the best it can with what it has. And sometimes what it needs is someone willing to look more carefully at the whole picture, not just the parts that show up on standard tests.

Fertility is never just one thing

When a woman comes to see me struggling to conceive, the first thing I say is this: let us slow down and look at everything.

Because fertility is not just about your ovaries. It is not just about your cycle, or your partner's sperm count, or your age, or your hormone levels, though all of those absolutely matter. Fertility is the expression of overall health. It is the body saying: I am well enough, safe enough, and resourced enough to support a new life.

When something is getting in the way of that, whether it is chronic stress, a thyroid that is slightly off, a gut that is not absorbing nutrients well, hormonal imbalances that standard tests do not fully capture, or an immune system that is quietly working overtime, the body will often hold back. Not because it is broken. Because it is wise.

Holistic medicine looks at all of these factors together. And in my experience, when you support the whole system rather than just the reproductive system, things that have been stuck for a long time often begin to move.

What I look at in a fertility consultation

Every fertility consultation I do is different, because every woman is different. But there are several areas I always explore in depth.

Hormonal health across the whole cycle, not just the day 3 and day 21 snapshots that most conventional testing offers. I want to understand the full arc of the cycle: what happens at ovulation, how the luteal phase feels, whether there are signs of oestrogen dominance or low progesterone, and how the body is clearing hormones after it has used them. A cycle is a month-long story and every chapter matters.

Thyroid function, with particular attention to the subclinical picture. Thyroid function that is technically "within range" but not truly optimal is one of the most commonly missed contributors to fertility challenges. The thyroid influences almost every reproductive process in the body, including ovulation and implantation, and I look at the full picture rather than just the basic TSH marker.

Gut health and nutrient absorption. You can eat the most nourishing diet in the world, but if your gut is inflamed, dysbiotic, or not absorbing properly, you may not be getting the nutrients your body needs to support a pregnancy. Folate, B12, iron, zinc and vitamin D are all critical for fertility, and all dependent on a functioning digestive system.

The nervous system and chronic stress. Elevated cortisol directly suppresses reproductive hormones. This is physiology, not character. When the body is in a state of chronic activation, it genuinely deprioritises reproduction as a matter of survival. Supporting the nervous system is therefore one of the most important and most overlooked parts of fertility care.

Emotional and energetic health. This is the part that most often gets left out, and I believe it is profoundly important. The journey to conception, especially when it has been difficult, carries an enormous emotional weight. Fear, grief, hope, disappointment, pressure. These are not separate from the body. They live in it. And working with that emotional landscape is part of what homeopathy does exceptionally well.

How homeopathy supports fertility

Homeopathy is one of my most valued tools for women trying to conceive, precisely because it works at the level of the whole person.

A homeopathic remedy does not target a single hormone or organ. It supports the entire system, physical, emotional, and energetic, in moving toward greater balance and vitality. For women with complex or long-standing fertility challenges, that systemic support can make a significant difference.

I have worked with women who had been through multiple rounds of IVF and supported them in preparing for the next attempt, often with results that surprised their fertility specialists. I have worked with women with PCOS, endometriosis, unexplained infertility, and recurrent pregnancy loss. And I have worked with women simply wanting to give their body the best possible natural foundation before they begin trying.

Homeopathy works beautifully alongside conventional fertility treatment. It does not interfere with medication or IVF protocols. It simply provides a layer of whole-body support through what is often an emotionally and physically demanding process.

Reflexology and fertility

Reflexology is another tool I reach for often in fertility work. Specific reflex points on the feet correspond to the reproductive organs, the endocrine system, and the nervous system, and working with these points can support hormonal regulation, improve circulation to the pelvic region, and gently but powerfully shift the nervous system from a state of stress activation into rest and restoration.

Many of my patients find reflexology sessions to be one of the most nourishing parts of their fertility support, not just physically but emotionally. The experience of being cared for, of taking an hour to breathe and allow the body to simply receive, is something that should not be underestimated on this journey.

What you can do starting today

While we work together on the deeper picture, there are things you can begin right now.

Nourish your body with whole, nutrient-dense foods: leafy greens, healthy fats, quality proteins, and colourful vegetables at every meal. Reduce processed foods, alcohol, and anything that creates inflammation in the body.

Support your nervous system daily. This does not have to mean meditation, though if that works for you, wonderful. It can be a walk in nature, a warm bath, gentle movement, anything that signals to your body that it is safe. Magnesium glycinate is one of my most recommended supplements for nervous system support and is gentle enough to take daily.

Take a high-quality prenatal vitamin, ideally one with methylfolate rather than standard folic acid, as some women have a gene variant that makes converting folic acid difficult. Look for one that also includes CoQ10 for egg quality support.

And read. The research on egg quality and fertility nutrition has grown enormously in recent years, and there are now excellent books written specifically for women on this journey.

You do not have to do this alone

The fertility journey can be isolating, especially when it looks effortless for everyone around you, and especially when conventional medicine keeps telling you that everything is fine.

You deserve more than that. You deserve someone who will take the time to look at your whole story and support you in a way that feels both thorough and deeply personal.

I offer both in-person and online consultations and I would love to hear from you. Book directly through my website, or email me at superlativehealthllc@gmail.com with any questions. I am genuinely happy to talk through your situation before you book anything.

You are not running out of time. And you are not out of options.

Something worth knowing

"Fertility is not just about your reproductive system. It is the expression of your overall health. When the whole body is well supported, the body's natural capacity to conceive often follows."
