NET is a mind-body stress-reduction approach that helps treat behavioural and physical conditions by focusing on negative emotional blocks. The objective is to find the cause of negative physiological reactions to events and help the patient release it and move on.

 

This therapy is used by Mind/Body oriented practitioners to help their clients process and release stress-related issues, both in mind and body. Practitioners use this therapy to help physical problems that have an associated stress component. Stress can definitely be a factor in acute situations, and it is also often a factor in chronic and hard-to-resolve conditions.

While the NET protocol itself is not considered to be psychology, the following principles apply within the steps of NET:

  1. Cognitive (identifying thoughts and internal dialog associated with recollections),

  2. Emotional (identifying the emotions the recollection elicits), and

  3. Behavioral (how the recollections affect actions, relationships, etc.).

How to Prepare for Your NET Session

Avoid strong scents before your appointment Perfume, cologne, scented lotions, and cigarette smoke can interfere with the accuracy of muscle testing and affect the treatment environment for you and other patients. Please arrive as fragrance-free as possible and avoid smoking in the hours before your session.

Don't eat a heavy meal beforehand Come with something light in your stomach — not empty, but not full. A heavy meal can make it harder for your body to respond clearly during testing and may cause discomfort while lying on the table. Simple, clean food works best.

Stay well-hydrated NAET works with the body's energy pathways, and hydration supports that process. Drink plenty of water before your session and continue to hydrate well afterward to help your body integrate the treatment.

Avoid gum and candy during your visit Please don't chew gum or eat candy during your session. These can interfere with the testing and treatment process.

Be ready to avoid your treated allergen for 25 hours after your session This is one of the most important parts of the process. After each NAET treatment, your body needs a full 25 hours without exposure to the treated allergen in order to complete the reprogramming. Come prepared to know what was treated so you can plan accordingly — your practitioner will go over this with you before you leave.

Keep track of your treatments and reactions NAET works through a sequence of clearing, building on each session. Keeping your own notes on what has been treated, any reactions you notice, and foods or substances you've been avoiding will help your progress stay on track and your sessions run smoothly.

Let us know about any anaphylactic reactions If you have a history of severe allergic reactions, please inform Melody before your session begins. This is essential for your safety and for guiding the treatment approach.

Reschedule if you're feeling unwell If you're sick on the day of your appointment, please call to reschedule. Your body's energy is already occupied when you're fighting illness, which can affect testing accuracy and your ability to respond to treatment.

Plan to rest and receive afterward NAET is a gentle but meaningful shift in how your nervous system relates to the world around it. After your session, drink water, move gently, and give yourself space to notice what your body is telling you. Some people feel deeply relaxed. Others notice shifts in energy, mood, or sensation. All of it is information worth paying attention to.
